Heirloom tomatoes are luscious and a prize to pick. Today even beefsteak tomatoes are considered heirlooms. The garden is definitely a job and I have a new respect for farmers. After three months of patience, babysitting and waiting we finally picked our first Mr. Stripey. This tomato is a pale yellow with red stripes, large, about a pound and a half each. When sliced, drizzled with olive oil and topped with your choice of basil or oregano; perfection and best grown in New Jersey! Any tomato grown in the soil of Jersey has a taste you can never duplicate or forget. I am amazed and in awe of the perfection of God in the beauty of fruits, vegetables, flowers and the pleasure we evoke from these miracles.
