Last week on the way home from a trip to Princeton, my friend and I took a slight detour. As you are aware, I love everything about food and drink. I also love to find and support local small businesses. So to Mount Holly we ventured looking for a craft brewery called Spellbound. Our GPS took us to a small industrial park; where we drove quickly around with no brewery named Spellbound to be found! I was not to be discouraged. I love their IPA, so in today’s modern world a phone call from the driver’s seat was a quick cure. With an explanation of our location and a tip or two from the taproom keeper we found it. A black gate and faded sign welcome you to walkway lined with strings of lights that lead you to a delightful inviting taproom. I was ecstatic and scanned the blackboard for the choices available. My mind was quickly made up, a flight was the best way to sample these brews. My dear friend who is a Yeungling fan chose a glass of Citra Pale Ale. As for me my fight included the Peach IPA, Saison, Porter and the Palo Santo Porter. We sipped our brews enjoying casual conversation with David, who built the bar as well as the flight paddles. He gave us some background about the brewery with tips on two more local spots, Village Idiot in Mount Holly and Third State in Burlington. The beers were great! My favorite the Porter! I was told it had been canned ready for distribution. I plan to return to Mount Holly, however my next venture is Forgotten Boardwalk right here in Cherry Hill!
